I couldn’t believe that someone could be so careless as to flatten out my blanket like this. It was like they didn’t even care about my feelings or about the value of things they gave me. It made me feel unloved and unappreciated.
But then I realized that it wasn’t someone else’s fault. It was my own fault for not taking better care of my blanket. I should have known better than to let someone else use it without permission, or to let it get so dirty and flat in the first place. It was a lesson learned the hard way, but at least now I knew better.
So I took the blanket to the laundry room and washed it carefully, using a gentle detergent and rinsing it well so that no residue would be left on the fabric. Then I hung it up to dry, and after a few hours, it was ready to be put back on my bed.
As I tucked it back into its original spot, I felt a sense of pride and accomplishment wash over me. I had taken care of my own belongings, and I had restored something that was important to me back to its original state. It was a small victory, but it was enough to make me feel better about myself and my abilities to take care of myself and my possessions.
Now, every time I look at my white duck feather blanket, I know that it is still round and puffy and full of warmth and comfort. It is still my favorite thing about my dorm room, and it will always be a reminder to me that I need to take better care of my belongings and not let them get so flat and unusable again.
