The Story of a Feather Bed
This is the story of a feather bed, an essential piece of furniture in any household. It starts out as a simple concept, a bed made from feathers, and then it becomes a symbol of comfort and warmth. The bed's journey from its initial construction to its ultimate destination is filled with ups and downs, just like the lives of the people who use it. It provides a place to relax and recharge, and it becomes a cherished possession that passes through generations. The feather bed's story is about more than just a piece of furniture; it's about the human need for comfort and security, and about the enduring value of home.
Once upon a time, in a small village, there was an old feather bed that was always half-empty. The residents of the village noticed this odd phenomenon and began to talk about it among themselves. No one could figure out why the bed was always half-empty, and the story became a bit of a mystery.
One day, an old witch who was passing through the village decided to investigate the strange story. She walked up to the bed and looked at it carefully. She could see that the feathers were all in place, but there was definitely something missing from the middle of the bed. The witch felt around the bed and noticed that the middle of the mattress was flatter than the rest of it. She realized that someone had taken out the middle of the bed, leaving just the outer edges intact.
The witch decided to find out who had done this. She cast a spell that made her invisible and then went to investigate the house. She found the owner of the house, a young woman named Lily, in the process of making repairs to her home. The witch watched as Lily worked, and noticed that she was sewing something into the middle of the bed. The witch realized that Lily must have been removing the middle of the bed to make room for her own body. She could only imagine how uncomfortable it must have been to sleep on such a thin mattress.
The witch decided to help Lily out. She cast another spell that made her appear as a friendly neighbor, and approached Lily with some advice. "Lily, you shouldn't have to sleep on such an uncomfortable mattress. I can help you find someone who can make you a new one." The witch said kindly. Lily looked at her with grateful eyes and nodded. "Thank you, I've been meaning to get a new one for ages but I just haven't had the time."
The witch smiled and said, "No problem, I'll help you get one today." She took Lily to a nearby village where there was a skilled mattress-maker. The mattress-maker measured Lily's body and made her a brand new feather bed. It was so soft and comfortable that Lily couldn't wait to try it out.
That night, Lily slept like a baby on her new feather bed. She woke up feeling refreshed and ready to face the day. She was so grateful to the witch for helping her get such a great gift. From that day on, the residents of the village noticed that the feather bed was no longer half-empty, but rather filled with warmth and comfort for its owner.
